Pants-less in Public

Update 10/12 – 10/18

Hi Friend!

I got this amazing postcard from Kathi in the mail.  Sure it looks like pictures of a hospital, but it’s actually a note from Kathi’s “COVID Vacay” which was apparently splendid.  She proceeded to describe that she was living her “best holiday life.”  2020 has really made it possible for someone to describe a c-section in a jealous inducing way!  It’s a real trip!

I wrote to AAA and asked for guidance on my trip and not only did they send me pamphlets and guides, they sent me a spiral bound book with my name on it and a zoomed in part of the map which is highlighted with my route! Magical. When I sent the picture to my mom, she said, “I know! That’s what I told you would happen.” It must be really annoying to have a daughter that is surprised when your right every time, huh?  (I wasn’t really surprised, I just didn’t know about the spiral bound book made just for me.  That part was super duper cool.) #nerdalert

On Wednesday, I headed over to Dawne’s for Fran’s birthday dinner.  Zach decorated the whole kitchen a la a 5 year old’s princess party.  It was spectacular.  And then Fran and I dressed up as princesses (though Fran look like a spectacular Beauty, and I wore Ariel’s day clothes with my “everyday tiara.”)

Lucas: Remember the Saffron debacle of 2019?

Jordan: Remember when that qualified as a debacle?

Me: Oh man, I went to eat a piece of 2019 Halloween candy and it was stale.

Rach: I didn’t know that was possible.

Me: That candy went stale or that I could still have 2019 Halloween candy?

Rach: Both!

Me: I still have Christmas and Easter candy too – but I have some time for those.

I actually went into the office for a lil bit on Friday so I can help organize and clean the product room.  I let Percy hang with me, and he just followed me back and forth wondering why we did this instead of going to the park.  When I got home there was a ginormous box labeled “Perishable.”  My first thought was, “Did I by myself something and forget, again!?” But no!  It was a surprise delivery from my niece Morgan – 5 half gallons of Penn State Creamery Ice Cream!  (Later, my Seattle family would ask why it’s the best ice cream.  I would tell them that it’s the best because there is only like 4 days between when the milk comes from the cow to when the ice cream is made.  I could also just let them try it? But that’s ridiculous.)   I also spent three days eating only Ice Cream – and lost a pound.  Yeah, buddy!

On Saturday, we went to another corn maze.  This one was muddy.  Like a couple 2 or 3 inches of mud (and apparently the second half of the maze the mud was up to your ankles!) My pants were long, so they touched the ground a bit.  Unless you start walking through mud, and then they drag down under your shoe a couple of inches and you have to hold the map in one hand and your pants up in the other.

And then, when we got back to the car, I legit took my pants and shoes off in the parking lot and then drove home pants-less.

Saturday evening I went to Becky’s for a social distance hang (sure, it’s getting colder, but that’s what Minnie Mouse blanket ponchos were made for!)  Oh and Maureen found the original “Mo-Bile” license place frame and Doreen found “Mo’s Driving Mix” so guess who’s recreating this mix into a road-trip mix!?

I don’t really remember what else happened…so here’s some funny stuff I found this week. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Update 10/5 – 10/11

Hi Friend!

I’m definitely late getting this out, but I feel like 2 weeks of work has been shoved into a two day period so who knows when I’ll finish writing this! I like that sometimes my sister will be like, “you forgot about….” Only, I didn’t, I just took so long getting an update done that time has lost all meaning!

I was driving over to Ryan’s during my lunch hour to drop off a birthday present when I got pulled over for speeding.  I am pretty sure that is NOT how Karma is supposed to work.  It was so weird b/c I definitely was not going as fast as they said, and they didn’t actually give me a ticket, they just said it would be mailed to me, and now I’m waiting for a ticket so I can protest it – because get this, the officer was like “Yeah, I would definitely protest this.” Then why are you giving it to me?  And also, where is your mask, sir!?

(TBH though, I just said, “Thanks, have a great day!”  Typical. )

Watched American Murder despite it being against all self-care rules that I have created for myself.  I then had to watch 5 episodes of New Girl, and I still had nightmares.  What a totally messed up, awful monster of a human.

Friday was a BIG day!

Kathi had a perfectly healthy and adorable baby girl Aurelia.  I feel like I just got another niece even though we’re totally not related. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Me: She has the same birthday as Percy so I won’t forget!

Kathi: I was just going to look up if she shares a birthday with someone famous!

For Percy’s birthday I made sure Dawne and Nala could go for a walk with us at the park because that’s all he really wants in life.  He’s such a cool little dude.  I also had kind of a maniac day all together.  It started out at Les Schwab getting a pre-trip check and figuring out my tire situation.  I wanted to see if a needed winter tires (we deciding on siping my tires for extra gripping) and if I needed a spare tire (the guy was like “Boy! They really don’t give you any room in here for a tire!” and also, “You have special wheels so that’s going to be an extra $600) and I decided that the fix a flat device and AAA is going to be my life line instead.  All the prayers and good thoughts that this works out for me!  And then the walk, and then running over to Rick’s to drop off his 10 year workaversary present made my day totally cray cray.

On Saturday, we headed down to the Carpinito Bros Farm for some corn maze fun.  It was super weird not doing the corn maze with Dr. Rach.  Oh, and Dawne looked at the map… for the first time ever.  Yeah, the first time ever.  I’m still reeling from this information.  We used to do corn maze races in the dark, and then we started doing races in the daylight.  But the last couple of years we’ve slowed down and walked through them as a group.  Do I sometimes yell when no one is paying attention to the map but me and then they start going down the wrong paths?  Maybe?  But this year I only yelled once, and I feel like that shows personal growth.

Then we went to the other side for some more Fall Fun, including roping the wooden cows.

Jordan: It’s more humane if you rope ‘em by the ass.

Zach: Here, let me try.

Jordan: Get your own! (things that Jordan always wanted to be able to say to his kids, and now that he’s got a 31 year old, all bets are off!)

When we got back to the house we made a spreadsheet of Halloween movies to watch, then ignored all of them and watched true blood.  (Well, that’s not true, we watched Addams Family and Van Helsing first.)  And we played a scooby doo game.  Jordan “froze” Scooby Doo (my character) as his first action as the ghost.  Naturally, when he lost I told him it was because he thought it was a good idea to knock down a dog.  See! That’s how Karma is supposed to work!

Jordan: We should go an pull the buoys out.

Me: Why?  We have never done that before.

Jordan: Because we had to put new ones in this year and they were $600.

Me: I don’t think you’re going to be able to pull them out.

Jordan: I think we can, let’s go now before it rains.

Me: Okay, I’ll go just to take pictures of your struggle.

On Sunday we finished the last puzzle – and probably other stuff, but really the puzzle is the big news.

Here are some amusing bits from last week:

Ghoul Friend

Update 9/28 – 10/4

Hi there!

My big accomplishment for last week was that I installed a home security / fancy lock system where all the cameras and locks are connected to each other and my phone, and I managed to do it all by myself!  Yay!

I also decided to watch New Girl, which I had really enjoyed the first couple of seasons of and then I gave up for no particular reason, and so I picked it back up randomly at season 4 and it’s delightful!   This balances out the fact that I completely shattered my self-care plan of only watching and reading things that will make me happy when I watched the debate and my heart and soul were filled with anxiety for a full 90 minutes.

My Knock! Knock! Plants got delivered!  Um, so incredibly cool and easy and now I look like an adult! (And yes, I equate having potted plants outside your entry way to having the faรงade of being adult!)

Oh man, I was on FaceTime with Sean & Stacey Friday night and, for no reason at all, I dropped my entire glass of red wine on the couch! (Stacey didn’t see what I did, but did see my face, so was not surprised when I hung up.)  I rapidly took the cover of the cushion, threw it in the wash and it came out completely - no problems. But the sheer shock of those 15 seconds!! What a doozy.

Sean also told me that he wrote a parent recommendation for Morgan for school, and had written something to the effect of “If you order a hamburger, Morgan is the bacon and Cheese, and if you order a Sunday she’s all the really great toppings.  Basically, she makes everything better.”  And so now, Morgan’s best friend and her fam have nicknamed her “Topping.”  I mean, he’s not wrong.

I've let Percy take the donut off during the day because he's been really good, but at night, I have to put it back on.  I don't know how parents say no to kids, man.  This little dude was so sad and pathetic every time I put it on.  I powered through, but it was soooo hard!  How can you tell this little, softly whimpering face no?

At Dawne’s, they were getting their outdoor, covid safe area ready for the winter.

Me: I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I figured I’d wait until after Christmas – maybe by then this whole pandemic will be over.

Zach: More likely a year from then, though.

<SAD FACE>

We did another puzzle, and D&J got frames for them (aka we did not throw these ones right into the trash.)  Oh and Zach and Dawne got the Disney Castles all lit up and the Hogwarts train working.  So fun!

I was chatting with Rach at one point, and developed a fit of giggles trying to tell her that I placed my candle next to my fire alarm, and now realize it must not be working because it would likely be triggered if a small fire was an inch away from it.  I inaccurately said it was my vampire candle, so Rach asked me what Vampires smell like, and I replied, without skipping a beat, “Strawberries!” But actually, it was me “Ghoul Friend” candle, which also smells like berries.   The fit of giggles was mostly at my expense, of why I had a fire alarm on the dresser, why I would put a candle next to it, and also some revealing facts about some dangerous live wires, and how I had already called someone about them, and still didn’t fix the problem.  Livin’ on the edge.

I’m fairly sure that this was a quote from Dr. Rach, but also could have been me, or most people I know: Neither of us has worn pants in at least 7 months.

October 2019

So usually this week I’m in NY for NYCC.  And last year, I got to meet Belle, Ariel and Tiana.  And, I had someone draw me a picture of Beauty and the Beast to have Belle sign, AND Ariel took my phone and recorded my voicemail message, and it was one of the most exciting days ever.  I asked them to sign everything to “Princess Tiffany” and then each one was like, Oh! How old is Princess Tiffany, and then I was like, oh, I’m Princess Tiffany!

In October 2018, I drove to Chicago with my parents and we got there and then didn’t have a key to house – which is only funny b/c my mom started looking for the key like 30 min before we got there, and I started laughing and saying hahaha wouldn’t it be hilarious if we drove 14 hours and then couldn’t get into the house! My mother did not find this situation funny AT ALL.  And to be honest, neither did I when we got to the house and I realized I really needed to pee.  We ended up getting a hold of my Uncle Bill, and went over to his house to hang out before we got the key.  (This is one of those scenarios where, it’s seems fun to see people when you arrive some place, but also is miserable because you’ve been driving since 5 am and do not feel like being a joy and delight.)   Much more to this story… but I think I’ll wait for next week because I might never send this out otherwise. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Much love!
