A Very Haunted Evening

Update 10/26 – 11/1

Hi Friend!

This week I put up a Harry Potter themed secret cabinet that I bought months ago and finally made it official but mounting it to the wall.  I was talking to Janette, telling her how I made chicken for Percy but then made myself a bowl of Cereal b/c I don’t cook.  And then she asked me if was stranded on a desert island, what protein what I want.  At first I said peanut butter (but only because I wouldn’t want to kill anything.) But if there was a magical replenishing fridge of meat, I would go for pig all the way.  Ham and Bacon for days!  Weirdly, I was NOT suspicious of this question and just thought we were having one of our normal chats.  That is until bacon, ham and biscuits arrived to my door Tuesday.  I am not going to lie, I cooked everything this morning and am half way through my second meal of bacon and biscuits.  Pure joy!  And because I woke up at 7am, I got sooo much done before noon.  Thanks daylight savings!

Did anyone else hear about that theory that because the whole pandemic started when it was a Daylight savings,  full moon, Friday the 13th and then John Mulaney hosting SNL, that last night with Halloween, Full Moon, Daylight Savings and another John hosting of SNL, the spell was supposed to be broken.  Could someone go look outside to see if it’s true?  LMK!

Reasons why online dating is so hard...

Sean: Bloomberg is talking about Chris leaving.  And your stock is up!

And then I got all the mixings for traditional soft pretzels for Givetober / Oktoberfest… so Lucas and I are going to do that tonight because I had to work through the work cooking show version of making pretzels.

Oh! I think I told you about my mirror falling down last week, so Dawne and Jordan came over and after about two hours, we got it back on the wall. SOOOO heavy.  So heavy.  Dick had originally put it up, and he was upset when he heard it fell down – until I told him the wire broke rather than using the anchors into the wall.  I told him if it made him feel better it survived a minor earthquake last year.  He told me he almost asked if there had been an earthquake b/c his ego couldn’t handle it just randomly breaking.  We tripled the wires this time, so hopefully that does the trick.

Here's a quick pic of my Crows gathering for snack time.

On Friday, I dropped off a present at Dr. Rach’s.  We just waved through the glass.  Anderson told me about his t-rex costume and then I heard Emmett barreling to the front door buck naked, very upset he couldn’t give me a hug.  Not gonna lie, I was really upset I couldn’t give him a hug too.

Saturday I went over to D&J’s to help check an HP scavenger hunt that they ran for their team (which was super fun to see how creative everyone was!) I also dressed up as the Beloved George lady for Dawne and Jordan’s Disney Haunted Mansion dinner party.  Because it was just out lil family bubble, Dawne could use her Haunted Mansion china (SO FANCY) and they dressed up as the Ghost Hosts.  We went on a “virtual” version of the Disney ride followed but a super lovely dinner and played Nater’s game Haunted Mansion.  It really couldn’t have been a more perfect evening.

Me: On my way back from a Halloween Dinner Party!

Rach: When do you think this is? 2019?

2019

I went on some baby walks with Joey’s new puppy Pooh.  And then I dressed up as Aurora, but my co-workers said I wear that dress on Tuesday’s so it doesn’t count.  And then we went to a little Halloween walk celebration in Fremont.

In 2018, we went to the corn maze with the whole gang! And then Dawne had a Disney themed Halloween dinner party where she cooked lots of lasagna! And then we put lighter fluid on some pumpkins and lit them on fire!

In 2017 I went to lots and lots of fun exciting places.  First, I flew to Nashville with Becky to watch Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, which ended up being a dedication celebration with soooo much amazing talent!  Sure we were there for less than two days, but we managed to get Hatties Chicken, bar hopped and went to the Grand Ole Oprey!   I am so thrilled that Becky is always up for doing crazy things with me!

And then I went from there to the Big Buck Hunter World Championship in Vegas as VIP’s… for work.  Yeah buddy.  FOR WORK.   I don’t even know if I can adequately describe how amazing this quick trip to Vegas was (but we also went to the mafia museum!)

And then I went to Disneyland!! Yeah that’s right, DISNEYLAND. And then had a dinner party for Halloween.  Boy, October is such a great month.

Practically Magic

 Update 19 – 25

Hi Friend!

My week started out with getting a notification from my bank that my debit card was being used without my knowledge at a Hampton Inn in Yonkers.  Good news is I have an alert on my phone so I caught it right away, but it is super annoying that something like this happens and the person who did it is never punished, but you have to go back and update all of your automatic payments.  And then on Friday, I was sitting on the couch, like I have been doing for the past five years, lalalala, when suddenly the mirror behind me dropped off the wall.  Luckily, it did not fall on me, nor did it break, and the wire snapped rather than the anchors on the wall breaking, but I am not going to lie, I am soooo tired of being positive when random crappy things happen.  I said this to my mom and she said, “It could have been worse.” And then, “This too shall pass.” To which I replied, “WHAT DID I JUST SAY!?”

I did some cleaning and organizing and prepping on Saturday.  I’m sure the hyper-organizing is just a function of controlling what I can control, but the results are AMAZING.  I also voted. 😊 And, I finally framed some cool princess stuff and hung it on my wall (including something that is technically Zach’s but he’s left it at my house for three years, so now it’s on my wall!)

To continue my excitement over everything Snoop Dogg, here is Snoop getting and wearing some of the King Ice Xbox jewelry that I worked on.

Going through the sunglass basket, Dawne pulls one out and says, “Look at these ones, these are really weird!” To which I replied, “Those are my cat sunglasses!!”

And then we carved pumpkins while watching Hotel Transylvania and followed that up with a delightful showing of Practical Magic.  I think if I had realized how light on content this week was, maybe I would have gotten it done earlier!

In the meantime, these are things I thought were funny this week:

And this is my flashback:

Looking back at October in past years is so fun because it’s clearly where I pack in all my good times.

Like last year, Ryan and I went to Hawaii!  First Class!  Woot!

Ryan: I’ve never been so excited about a 6 hour flight!

And then for at least the 12 hours I kept repeating, “I can’t believe my phone works here just like it’s America!”

And then while we were at the beach, Ryan says, “That guy is really digging (his ass crack) over there.  At least go into the water more.  Have a little shame! A little shame never hurt anyone!

Our co-worker friend sent us this amazing 20 page document of everything we needed to know about Hawaii.  We went to a cool beach, and learned about reef safe sunblock.  We went on a Catamaran tour, saw dolphins jumping along side us, and swam with sea turtles.  We went on an epic road trip with our friend Kayla who showed us cool spots at Pearl Harbor that aren’t open to the public, and private military beaches and basically gave us the most amazing tour.  And then we spent two days at the Disney resort eating all things shaped Mickey and floating in the lazy river all day.   I also LITERALLY got scared by Stich when I turned a corner and he popped out of a door.  We also went to a luau where the table mysteriously leaked on my for the entire hour.  It was weird.

I hope you found some amusing tidbits, and hopefully I can get this weeks written on Sunday! 😊

Pants-less in Public

Update 10/12 – 10/18

Hi Friend!

I got this amazing postcard from Kathi in the mail.  Sure it looks like pictures of a hospital, but it’s actually a note from Kathi’s “COVID Vacay” which was apparently splendid.  She proceeded to describe that she was living her “best holiday life.”  2020 has really made it possible for someone to describe a c-section in a jealous inducing way!  It’s a real trip!

I wrote to AAA and asked for guidance on my trip and not only did they send me pamphlets and guides, they sent me a spiral bound book with my name on it and a zoomed in part of the map which is highlighted with my route! Magical. When I sent the picture to my mom, she said, “I know! That’s what I told you would happen.” It must be really annoying to have a daughter that is surprised when your right every time, huh?  (I wasn’t really surprised, I just didn’t know about the spiral bound book made just for me.  That part was super duper cool.) #nerdalert

On Wednesday, I headed over to Dawne’s for Fran’s birthday dinner.  Zach decorated the whole kitchen a la a 5 year old’s princess party.  It was spectacular.  And then Fran and I dressed up as princesses (though Fran look like a spectacular Beauty, and I wore Ariel’s day clothes with my “everyday tiara.”)

Lucas: Remember the Saffron debacle of 2019?

Jordan: Remember when that qualified as a debacle?

Me: Oh man, I went to eat a piece of 2019 Halloween candy and it was stale.

Rach: I didn’t know that was possible.

Me: That candy went stale or that I could still have 2019 Halloween candy?

Rach: Both!

Me: I still have Christmas and Easter candy too – but I have some time for those.

I actually went into the office for a lil bit on Friday so I can help organize and clean the product room.  I let Percy hang with me, and he just followed me back and forth wondering why we did this instead of going to the park.  When I got home there was a ginormous box labeled “Perishable.”  My first thought was, “Did I by myself something and forget, again!?” But no!  It was a surprise delivery from my niece Morgan – 5 half gallons of Penn State Creamery Ice Cream!  (Later, my Seattle family would ask why it’s the best ice cream.  I would tell them that it’s the best because there is only like 4 days between when the milk comes from the cow to when the ice cream is made.  I could also just let them try it? But that’s ridiculous.)   I also spent three days eating only Ice Cream – and lost a pound.  Yeah, buddy!

On Saturday, we went to another corn maze.  This one was muddy.  Like a couple 2 or 3 inches of mud (and apparently the second half of the maze the mud was up to your ankles!) My pants were long, so they touched the ground a bit.  Unless you start walking through mud, and then they drag down under your shoe a couple of inches and you have to hold the map in one hand and your pants up in the other.

And then, when we got back to the car, I legit took my pants and shoes off in the parking lot and then drove home pants-less.

Saturday evening I went to Becky’s for a social distance hang (sure, it’s getting colder, but that’s what Minnie Mouse blanket ponchos were made for!)  Oh and Maureen found the original “Mo-Bile” license place frame and Doreen found “Mo’s Driving Mix” so guess who’s recreating this mix into a road-trip mix!?

I don’t really remember what else happened…so here’s some funny stuff I found this week. 😊
