SEPTEMBER 2016

Hi Friend!

Started the week by wrapping up the weekend in Oregon and driving back home.  Zach launched his kick starter for Adorable Monsters, FINALLY.  Such a great game and I can’t wait all of you to be able to play it!

I don’t know if I’ve told you this, but my foot has been killing me for like two years, and I hurt it even worse this week.  Can’t even remember how, but I’m not about to pass up an opportunity to whine about it.

I hung out with Zach, Lucas and Dawne during the week.  Nothing too crazy but I have a couple of random quotes that made me giggle.

Lucas: I'm my mom’s daughter.

We obviously had a brunch date because I have some entries from Mo, Shana & Jen.

Me: Mo just called Brando a rapist.  (Brando is a dog.)

And even less context:
made these myself
Priced them ourselves I see

Jen got back from her summer on the sea.  She told us a lot of good stories about being a seafaring family but the best ended with Jen acquiring a new nick name, “Smokin ass hot.”

And isn’t that enough?

Update 9/12-9/18

Hi Friend,

Ryan and I did some loose adulating as we went to the grocery store at lunch and came out with Gatorade, Gum, Gummie Bears, and Starbucks double shots.

Ryan: I only like root beer when it's poured over ice cream.

Me: I wonder if there will be a day when there isn't Jon Bonet Ramsey on the front page of the tabloid.

Me: I walk faster in the ER than that woman.
Ryan: I walk faster when I have no where to go

Me: Do you know how postage works?
Lucas: Forever is forever
Me: What the hell, put 4 on.
Lucas: What! Those are long term investments there!

At this point it was still pretty hot, after a long dry summer.  One afternoon, Dawne and Jordan we’re paddle boarding when they saw smoke up above.  Not knowing what house it was coming from, they ran up to find that the neighbors trees had lit on fire.  Another neighbor had already started hosing them down.  The following day, the same thing happened.  It turns out that in a freak accident, the sun was hitting the neighbors car at such an angle that it was bouncing through the windshield and lighting the super dry trees across the street on fire.  Luckily, there were people home both times (during the work day no less) that were able to put it out before it did any more damage.  Crazy though, right?

Dawne bought new baby puzzles for the pups and Percy became totally obsessed.  He can two two of the puzzles really well actually.  I guess Dawne is just looking for ways to entertain herself during the rainy months.

I was invited to a puppy birthday party by a co-workers.  Percy thoroughly enjoyed all of Wednesday’s toys, and then we left.  To be fair we had to run to Kelly’s house warming party that was in totally the opposite direction.  When we arrived, Zach was the only one there, and had been there for a while.  This is what happens when you’re on time to a party in Seattl.

Mo (an adult) had been drinking a lot of soda to which Laina (his wife) commented, “He's hoing to be real hard to put down to sleep tonight.”

After the party, Dawne, Jordan and I went to go see Bridget Jones’ Baby and proceeded to laugh hysterically the entire time.  If you haven’t seen it, I recommend (even though Erika said the book wasn’t as good.)

More pics including another sneak peek inside the brown house.

Much Love,

Update 9/19-9/25

My friend Carla told me that said she couldn't go on this trip with me and when I called to cancel the guy at reservations was like "You're going to have a great time traveling by yourself.  You'll be in a single room .... But maybe not for long."  Thanks stranger!

It’s possible I messed this up, but this was actually the week that someone broke into the Jeep at the park… not the other time that I will write about in the future.  (Catching up after a year is harder than it looks.)

Dawne and I continued to take long walks at the park with the pups (despite the break in) and I think Jordan was out of town because I also spent a lot of time at her house after work.  We started watching This is Us and The Good Place and enjoyed them thoroughly.   I did try to go to the park without Dawne over the weekend, and I don’t know if Percy could smell the other dogs or what but he was darting a block ahead of me and then running back and forth the whole time (presumably frustrated by how slow I walk.)  Either way, he was happy to get back to the car.

I spend some time trying to get a new dog food for Percy.  I don’t know if I mentioned Percy’s hunger strikes, but he can go over two days refusing to eat until I worry that he’s too tiny to go that long and I break down and give him what he wants (you would too!)  So I spent the weekend trying to feed him 20 different foods and with an array of food he refused all of them.  Not until I took a couple of pieces and hid it in his puzzle would he even try them.  Such a weirdo.

Kelly got a camper! Not really news for me, but since I have pictures, I’ll share!

Janette came for a visit (and her sister!) I brought over a bunch of ice cream and cookies (to remind her how awesome I am) and we spent the evening catching up.  Love that girl!

Update 9/26-10/2

I sent a picture of pasta to the only pasta expert I know (Bails) and she totally knew the name of the pasta right away.  We also rediscovered Pomegranate, and now Ryan and I go on a steady rotation to Pomegranate, Village Café and Panera.  (And continue to do so for the following 8 months at least!)

The park was getting super cool with some misty fog.  It's kind of awesome while the sun is still out an glorious, not so much when it looks like that sad horse dying scene in Never ending story.

My brother shaved his head once again for "Shave for a Cure." Well he had it shaved, b/c Frita definitely took a chance at the razor!  So proud of him!

I dusted off my creative cobwebs and helped Erika figure out a costume for an Oktoberfest party.  Too bad she doesn't live closer because I obviously have a couple of those lying around.

Apparently, the person who cleans my house has been not putting the recycling in the recycling bin (for maybe the last year).  I only know because the two times she came this month, a neighbor had gotten fed up and brought the recycling back to my front door.  At first I totally didn't get it, but once I did, I kinda thought it was hilarious (and also felt bad) but mostly thought it was funny.

Overheard at work, with no context. "Unless you're dating a minor." So that can rattle around in your brain too.

Finally, we wrapped the weekend with going to lunch at Maltby Café, walked around a flower store and gardens, and then went to get blue and pink pumpkins!

AUGUST 2016

The HOA finally forced me to pay three times as much as I needed to move the wall back to its original location.  And it happened this week!   In other news, I watched Piper while Kelly went to a wedding.  Piper is a gem and incredibly cuddly.  Percy is not cuddly, but damn if he’s going to let someone else get cuddly with me.  I thought the whole thing was hilarious.  I worked from home on Friday rather than leave them alone together all day.  Work was tricky because of the piper in my lap, but we got through it.  I also went to the park a couple of times with Ryan and Aunt Par so we were rolling 7 dogs deep – talk about a pack!

Me at work: Dum Dums. Speaking of which that sounds delicious.

I met Dr. Rach for Trivia Night at Norms.
Me:Finally: knowing every song on Mariah Carey's Music Box has helped me in life.
Dr. Rachel: oh I think it's helped you a lot in life.

And I think that covers my week!

Much Love,

Update 8/8 - 8/14

Hi Friend,

My friend’s sister was in the Olympics again, and I spend a good portion of this week just being in awe of her. And if that wasn’t amazing enough, Julia had a baby!  Miss Henrike! And the whole family is adorable and perfect!

The weekend was spent going to the Ape Caves or lava tubes followed by camping.  In a Camper, but how else would you do it?

Starbucks: It's a beautiful day what are you doing?
Becky: Hanging out in a cave.

Becky told like three stories about villages / people dying and how fascinated she was. I think one was about the Carnegie Mellon family and the other was about Mt. St. Helen.  But since I don’t remember the whole thing, let’s just ask her again next time we see her.

Watching Lucas start a fire:
Me: Teepee style, that's highly irregular.
Lucas: Ron does teepee style.
Me: I don't hang out with Ron.
Lucas: Yeah, this is strictly a log cabin family.

Then I went to see how Zach’s group was setting up to find that they had already started a fire.  Log Cabin Style inside of a TeePee.  #eaglescouts

Tristin: The smoke feels like it's in my face no matter where I go
Lucas: It follows beauty.

Dawne (first thing in the morning): How long do we have to wait until we can make coffee.
Me: Why would we have to wait?!

Pete said to me: Have you ever seen Frozen? Yeah, Camping and Sandy are just so intense, put them together and it just makes sense!

Me: Good thing there wasn't any bears bc we left hamburgers on the grill.
Sandy: We were daring them.

Finally, Lucas bought a ton of Crystal Pepsi and I thought I had traveled back in time.  Although, truthfully, when I think of Crystal Pepsi, I also think of that SNL skit with the Crystal Gravy…

Much Love,

T O'B

Update 8/15 - 8/21

Hi Friend!

I started the week with a little work trip down to LA for the day.  At our meeting I was asked to review something.
Me: How should I deliver these notes?
Ben: Just be as direct as possible.
Me: I meant, do you want me to write them on this paper, or…

On the way back, James and I flew through TSA Pre-Check and got some beers while we waited for Corrinne and KP. We were talking about nicknames, trying to figure out the many nicknames for William, and why people are never called Billiam.  You know, the usual.  Corrinne started getting worried about getting on the plane so they headed to the gate while James and I finished our beers.  When we got to the gate and there was a long line to get on the plane, we breezed past Corrinne and KP because, First Class.  It was the most satisfying upgrade experience that I have ever had in that I giggle for a good 10 min.

Corrinne (seeing me in seat 1A):Is this you, seriously?
Me: Uh huh
Corrinne: See ya later, giggles.

I had to bring/sneak Percy into work for 30 min and within that time a co-worker squealed, “PUPPY!” so my cover was totally blown.  It was also super nice out, so I met up with Kelly and her mom, Beverly at the park.

Bev: Babies, puppies and horses: the only reason for Facebook.

Bailey moved into school down at University of Miami!

The biggest event for me this week was my parents and their friends Mary Jo and Dick driving in from New York.  They also brought me a bunch of stuff like fancy china and paintings.  Even more exciting, Dick actually hung up the pictures and this gigantic and heavy mirror.  And then I had a party on the hottest day in Seattle history, and Raymond brought a mirror for my bathroom and hung it up.  Also exciting!

I took them all  to work, Alki Beach, the library and to the Olympic Game farm.  I bought a couple loaves of bread because I remember the moose and bison from the last time we went.  So as we were approaching the intense area, I told my mom to get ready.  She carefully pulls a part all of the bread into little pieces and piles them up on her lap.

Me: Are you ready?
Momela: Yup.
Me: Are you sure?
Momela: Yes.
(30 seconds later after a pack of moose and bison tried to get into the car with us and my mom had just thrown all of the bread in her lap out the window.)
Momela: MOVE TIFFANY!!

Me: How was it in your car?
Dick: Dawne really wanted to take good picture, so I had to hold out my hand and get slobbered.
Me: So a different approach then our car.

One night, I decided to amaze and wow partially because I didn’t feel like running to pick up half and half and partially because I can.  I ordered Ben & Jerry’s for everyone from Amazon Prime now and within the hour we had dinner!

It was so lovely to have my parents here, and that they got to meet my friends and see my place.  Even it was a little less spacious with the wall moving.  Dick helped put the insulation and sheet rock up on the new walls which was awesome (and also allowed me to avoid finishing this project until the end of April.)  My mom had gotten lyme’s disease a couple of months before so making the trip was a herculean effort and I really appreciated it.  Oh! I almost forgot! I went to the pot store for the first time and got my mom some pot ointment! I told my brother I was doing this and he was kind of appalled making it even more fun!

Lucas: Why me?
Me: You’re stronger.
Lucas: But I'm lazier!
(I’m pretty sure this was Lucas, but it sounds like Kevin too!)

And because my friends near and far crack me up…
Erin: Stranger things is giving me nightmares.  Why won't Winona comb her hair?
Erin: If you want people to take you seriously, and think you're not crazy, run a brush through it.  You're not Doc Brown.

For more pictures that actually go with this post, see next week!

Update 8/22 - 8/28

Hi Friend,

Some of my trip with my parents was this week, but I wrote about it last week.  And then I included the pictures here.  Writing is hard.  And harder even when you wait a year to write about your week.  So I’ll try to focus on what happened when my parents left.  I think they left on a Wednesday and then my sister arrived on Thursday.  So I got a day of work in, which meant I came into office to find my entire desk covered in Halo bags.  NBD

Maureen came into town so that we could got to see the I Love the 90’s concert at Marymoor Park.  Such artists who were there included Young MC, Tone Loc, Coolio, Color me Badd, All-4-One, Rob Base and SALT-N-PEPA!

Before the concert, Mo and I were playing a game listening to some SNP when Maureen told me, “If I ever became a millionaire, I would ask Salt N Pepa to give me a private concert where they sing all of their songs in the exact order of their albums.”

We had VIP tickets so we got free food, adult beverages and capri suns.  Did I mention we also got matching shirts?  Yeah.  Every other concert I have been to at Marymoor is super chill.  People sitting on blankets and chairs with wine and cheese, swaying to the music.  I tried to explain this to Mo and she thought I was crazy.  Well I was crazy I guess, because this place was maxed out on people, and everyone there was ready to party.  I haven’t had that much jumping around and dancing since frat parties in college.  At one point, these two ladies tried to step in front of us, and Mo was having none of it.  Lucas was talking to me and I had to tell him to wait a moment as my sister was about to get into a rumble.  When the words, “You think you can take me?” we’re uttered, my sister said yes, but her knee was saying hell no. In a brilliant move, when the lady pushed her, Mo turned to her security guard friend and said, “Excuse me, did you see that?” and the issue was immediately resolved.  Wahoo!  Quite possibly the best time I have ever had at a concert.

Time for the random quotes portion of this update.
Lucas: they should just call nachos mine.

Me: And it gets cold at night
Lucas: Starts in the heart.

Does this mean nothing to you?!
I don't know where your shoes have been.

On Sunday, we went to the dog park and then we went to the Ballard Farmer’s market where we bought corn on the cob for later.  And because we were so close, I called Dr. Rach to see if she wanted to come meet us for lunch.

Dr. Rach: Anderson first word gentle
Dawne: Luke’s first words were stop stop and put that down.
Moments later, as we were talking about Always Sunny, Anderson clearly said, “Danny Devito” and now when we tell that story, I’m claiming that those were his first words.

And then we finished up the night watching Criminal Minds because Mo got me to watch it saying that Garcia was EXACTLY like me and then suddenly I was watching all 10 seasons.

More soon!

Update 8/29 - 9/4

Hi Friend,

On Monday & Tuesday, Mo and I went to go see Bad Mom’s (which was the highest of hilariouses.)  We had brunch at the Space Needle after walking through the Chihuly Garden’s.  And we also went to the park with Dawne and Mo spent some time with Dawne while I had to go to work for a bit.  Then I picked up Maureen, and dragged her to Kirkland to help me set up for a partner summit.  After a tiny bit of work, we went back to the office for a little cocktail party with all of my partners.  Maureen was, as always, funny, charming and everyone fell in love with her instantly.  Before I knew it though, I had to drive her to the airport but at least I got her sufficiently buzzed so she could sleep on the red eye out.

The following two days was when we had like 100 partners in town so it was filled with meetings and dinners and other fun work activities.   We were approaching labor day weekend and Kelly had put me on hold for a weekend trip in case someone else wanted to go with her.  Luckily for me, I got the call Thursday that I was being taken off hold and had plans for the weekend! (I genuinely thought this was funny, so don’t take it as passive aggressive.)

We drove down to the Oregon Coast to Cannon Beach where Kelly had rented an Airbnb.  As we passed some farms Kelly said, “Look at all of those sheep - Toms people!” (Because he’s from NZ)

Me: Don't let it freak you out that this bridge were about to go on looks like it's falling apart.
Kelly: It does! Why are we going on this!
Me: Go faster!!

We were able to walk to get coffee, bars, and the beach to which Kelly said, “I'm so glad our house is so close!”

We took lots and lots of pictures, including finding a crab and putting sunglasses on him.  And on Piper.  But not on Percy (because his nose is too small.)  I had a hard time figuring out the lamp next to the bed though because it was a touch lamp and would turn on fairly randomly during the night.

The pups rolled in a LOT of dead things, but we avoided having them try to roll in the dead sea lion. And then after rolling in all of the dead things, of course Percy wanted to snuggle up next to my face and take a nap.  After having them run on the beach all day, we came home for about 20 minutes and then looked at the tuckered out pups and asked, “Wanna go on another walk?”  And they did.

I introduced Kelly to the Golden Girls.
Me: Okay, that’s the slutty one.
There's a slutty one??

It was an absolutely perfect finish to a really incredible couple of weeks! So glad that other chick canceled so I could go!

Much Love,

JULY 2016

Hi Friend!

Not only did I get MVP this year, but I also got TSA-Pre-Check! Very exciting travel times.   My uber boss also had a birthday so we celebrated with a mid-afternoon chocolate tequila break.  And she shared one of her Hello Kitty rings with me, so that's special.

Did I tell you yet that they found a lake under the brown house when they were trying to update it?  Yeah, pretty awful.  I shared a picture of what the basement looked like as they were trying to fix it.  I mentioned that this would be a good time to build a moat around the house but it was too raw to be funny.

Becky introduced me to the notion of the Anonymous potato, which I would not act on until like April 2016.  (Knowing the future is fun!)

I think this might have been the week that Pokémon go released because Becky's pastor asked her if she could make a "Pokémon welcome" sign because there was a lot of them interested in the Lord.

And I guess the biggest event was going to the Goat Olympics, FINALLY.  After talking about it for years, we all made it over there.  It was pretty fun especially because goats are extremely stubborn and it's totally normal for their owners to drag them through all of the events and still win.  And um, I didn't want to say anything, but one of the "goats" was actually a sheep.  There was a part of it that was a look-a-like contest. Most of the contestants dressed their goat in the same outfit that they were wearing.  But the one that won, had actually dressed as the goat.  Hee.

And then we went to five guys and headed home.

Becky: Hey remember that lady at the farmers market who made the fresh buttermilk biscuits? I miss her.
Jared: So you're saying you have a biscuit-shaped hole in your heart?
Becky: Ha, Ha! You're so funny…
Jared: I know.
Becky:… Looking! Ha!

That's it for me folks!

Update 7/11 - 7/17

Hi Friend!

Uh oh.  I got confused, and forgot to include all the good stuff about the goat Olympics.  That's okay, I'll just add them here, you'll forgive me and we'll move on!

Goat Quotes:
Who won widest goat?
It was a bit of a scandal actually.

Hoof up
That goat just said Kelly, no.

That one looks so fluffy it looks like a sheep.
It is a sheep.

That's not a goat!
Shhh (don't tell the 5 year old. )

Let's go look at your closet!

Kelly was telling me about how Tom's son, Freddie has been quoting this video tutorial of drawing a pigeon word for word, without the video.  She asked him to tell me and it went like this, "Then you draw a circle. Very nice. Now tap the screen if you want to take a picture."

Kelly and I headed to Bite of Seattle by the space needle.  We met up with Lucas and got about 4 dozen scones (I brought a couple dozen to Dawne, don't worry!)

Kelly: Let's go put our names in to win that boat.
Me: Oh! Yes.  Maybe I'll win $15K so I can pay for to put the wall back!
Kelly: Exactly! We could even win that 100K dollar boat and sell it for 15k!

There were some crazy foods that I didn't try, like Krispy Kreme hamburgers and fried PB & J.  "Why don't you like what I ordered for you!"

I tried to teach D&J a card game but what I taught them was a mix of Gin, Knock and 101 - but it was still fun.  Then I went home and wrapped my whole house so that some jerk faces could put the wall back to where it was originally.  I took some pictures so you could see that extra space I had for a couple of months.

Becky: I'm leaving tomorrow with 15 teenagers for youth camp! I really wanted to make myself a shirt that says, "I chaperone now.  Chaperones are cool."

Update  7/18 - 7/24

Hi Friend,

Had lunch at the cafeteria with Tony.  I couldn’t decide what I wanted to a bought the worst PB&J sandwich complete with stale bread and a banana culture yogurt. It was yucks. I like bananas and culture but that's not what it meant.

I tried to respond to my boss and he responded with “don't be all fucking rational” so I just giggled and went back to work.

Me: Chief is ambidextrous.
James: Like my grandpa!

Oh, I went to San Diego Comic Con!  And the first night I went out to meet up with James and some folks at USAopoly and Mattel.  That’s when we got to see a hilarious showing of He-Man outside and I got some new insults from Skeletor including “cowardly catfish.” They had also built wonder woman’s invisible ship that you could take pictures in.  That’s when I told them they could have just had a clear chair and said that you were in the invisible ship and saved a lot of money.  What do you want me to do with all my good ideas, Lois!?

The taxi driver asked if I had my wallet and phone when I left the hotel just like John always asks when we leave a taxi. Unfortunately, he failed to ask if I had my sunglasses. So I had to steal a pair of Xbox sunglasses from James.

For the most part, all the meetings were awesome, I also got see the prototype of the Halo hot wheels that were super rad.  One night, we went from dinner and as a group started to follow James somewhere.  I got extremely whiney because I don’t like blindly following anyone.  I was convinced he was taking us across town to some swanky bar, and I thought all the bars we were passing were just fine.  I was texting Shana, also whining and she told me she was at this fabulous party and I was all, “I wanna be at a fabulous party instead of following this guy!” And then we got to this building and had to wait to get in, and when we did, we walked up the stairs to the roof top, and I didn’t know how many floors there were so I got even more cranky… and then we got to the top and all my friends were there including Shana!

To a girl on a segue:
I'm sorry for my friend he's not used to the future.

There was a pool so people were asking “Let me see your phone” so that someone would hand it to them and then they could push them in.  No one fell for it, but one guy was all, whoa, I don’t want to spending tomorrow trying to dry out my bills, social security card and library card (because you’re not allowed to laminate those!)

I got to sneak away and have lunch with my Uncle Jack, which was awesome.  I hadn’t seen him in a while and it was really rad having some 1:1 time!  And he even braved traffic to drive me back to the convention.  And then I was walking to my next meeting and who did I run into, SHANE!  We were both running to other things but when we did get to meet up he told me about this time he was having a meeting with Kevin Costner and an awkward moment, and just so I don’t ruin further relationships I won’t tell you the story here, but you should TOTALLY ask me about it sometime.

When I got back into town, I met up with D&J&Kids and we played Codenames.

Referring to the person who gives clues who was just basically saying the words on the table.
That job is hard
Hard but not that hard

New game: Jordan says something and we justify it!
That's not a game that's Dawne’s life.

 That’s it!

Much love,

Update 7/25 - 7/31

Hi Friend,

I started a bit of an obsession with coloring books this summer.  I brought a stack of Harry Potter coloring books and these really fun coloring pencils from Crayola with me everywhere.  Meetings, friend's houses, road trips, you name it.  So when I start this update with,  "And then we ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and colored." It really could have been any given night. I not only met up with Dawne in the morning, but sometimes we even met at the park after work, then went back to Dawne's house, made PB&J and colored.  If you can think of a better habit to fall into, I'd love to hear it.

Oh, my mom told me to make this concoction to keep mosquitos away.  Anyone want to try it and let me know if it works? Because I totally forgot to.

Three stale beers
Mouth wash mint.
Epsom salt

Pete got a new boat and was docking it at D&J's.  One day, after seeing that D&J's boat's batter kept needing a jump, Pete went out during the day, got a batter and installed it without even asking.  Isn't that so extraordinarily nice?!

The weekend was filled with hanging out in the sun with Maggie, Kelly and our many pups.  Erika sent me "The Royal We" and I read it in like 5 hours, it was really really good.  I proceeded to recommend/buy The Royal We or Jane Steele (also from Erika) for the next 9 months.  I also watched Stranger Things, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it.  But I watched it in my room b/c I had to move the TV while the construction was getting done and so it was large and I watched it along in the dark.

Some Hot air balloons floated by while we were outside, to which someone with much humor said, "Hurry! Someone take a picture for a screen saver!

JUNE 2016

Hi Friend

Really stretching the memory muscles!  I know Laina got an ad in the mail for a cleaning service called "Monica Gellar" which is pretty brilliant.  And Kelly said, "It's going to be so hot out this weekend I'm going to get a new freckle." Man do I miss those days!

I also stopped bringing Percy to his day care and started meeting Dawne and Aunt Pat at the park in the morning.   Then Dawne takes Percy home with her during the day and my dog is the happiest little ball of fur ever.

We had brunch at Laina's where she got me flowers and a Sprite because apparently that keeps flowers fresh longer. So it was a gift of flowers AND knowledge.  Then we brought up that time that someone came over to Laina's and threw a tantrum because she doesn't have salt in the house, and laughed and laughed.  And then I think these were new nicknames for babies or pets?  I don't know.
Skin kitten
Fur baby

And this?
Shana: Who needs ankles?
Rach: It's cool, he's like 98% cartilage

And this?
What if the boat explodes
Then we're in this together.

Dr Rach, Dr Anders and Anderson and I went for a walk on Alki after Laina's and we saw someone who must have been having a Quinciera (SP) otherwise she just does what she wants at her wedding.  And then who knows what happened for the rest of the weekend... prob TV and sleep tho, if I were a betting girl.

Update 6/6 - 6/12

Hi Friend,

So for the first couple of days I was picking up coffee on my way to meet Dawne and then I guess she thought that was silly, because she just took the cups one day and started making coffee for us at her house.  Now that is recycling.  I think we used those same cups for almost a month.

Co-worker: My apartment complex has a pool. It also has many children. I would enjoy exactly one of those things.

My other co-worker Corrinne's Bunko group had a "bring a friend" night and she invited me! It was pretty fun, plus someone made these epic melting snowmen cookies.
Should we split it?
No we want fighting

I feel like this was a quote from Lucas because I definitely remember him talking about Swatches, specifically the Special X Edition, but I don't remember the context - still it's kind of amusing.
Masters bc all my friend have one and bachelors is looked down on

Actually, I definitely think at this point Lucas was living with me, and he had this conversation with someone at his film class.
What powers does your crystal have?
I have to catch the bus bye bye

Since going to college, Lucas is becoming a total rice snob so I made Lucas get some Cambodian rice. Why?  Because if I learned anything while I was in Cambodia, it's that they have the number 1 rice!

After about a week, I explained to Luke that the Jesus quote was from my birthday party decorations.  Did I mention it was above the sink for instead of a mirror so my Jewish cousin had to read it while he was brushing his teeth?  Also, right after I had this conversation, I dropped the glass bottle of frankincense which spilled all over the floor. And then a couple of days later, a bottle of Worchester sauce broke on the floor moments before I was walking out the door. I guess thank goodness for tile floors but UGH!

Me: Sorry I'm not going to make it to your graduation.  Maybe I can call your name and you can walk across a fake stage and then toss an imaginary hat into the air when you get here.
Bails: Sounds good.  I found the best imaginary had last week, it was on sale for 3000% off.  I'll bring it with me if I have room in my bag.

Update 6/13 – 6/19

Hi Friend!

Ooh! A new fancy hipster Taco bell opened near my house, so that’s exciting.  I also asked a co-worker, Joey, to watch Percy, Nala and Casper, but just for one night, and really just to give them love until the dog walker could come the following day.  He was really gracious about it – and the pups definitely appreciated it.  I know, because I asked.

I went down to LA for E3, while D&J and fam went down to Disney and totally got the whole fam into the 33 Club.  And I started rewatching some Grey’s Anatomy because I’m weird, and also because it’s such a crazy drama! If you watch them tight together it’s kinda crazy the whirlwind that we’ve all gone through together.

Someone asked me where the Xbox booth was at one point, while I we were standing in the booth.

I’m pretty sure that Chelsea told me, “I am mildly allergic to very sharp cheeses.” And if she didn’t someone did and I thought their problems were amusing.

Chelsea: It sounds like a club in here, “Douche douche douche”
Me: Is that what it sounds like?
Chelsea: Yeah, every time I hear it I think, “Drink drinks drinks”

My very talented co-worker was waiting for Windows to update and ended up drawing me this awesome Warthog.  So I totally framed his “doodle.”  I also ordered my fancy customized pink and blue Xbox controller and it’s so pretty that I have it on display in my house like an art piece.

And I tested out the flexibility of the new action figures are, and the answer is VERY flexi.  The “Cheerio” challenge was thing this week, so Erika’s husband tested it out on his baby.

Coworker James...
It's 4 o'clock on a Friday, what do you want?

And Anderson turned one!
Bob: Weren't you on the front page of the paper with a hammer?
Anders: Yes
Bob to other son (I think?): And you were on it with a purse?

Bailey graduated High School.  When she decorated her cap her OTHER aunts both, separately asked, What is UMI – AMI? *sigh* And Bailey’s other friend decorated hers with “Because my Hogwarts letter never came” and in smaller letters “Harvard 2020.”

And because it was also father’s day:
How do you know if it’s a Dad Joke?
It’s apparent

Update 6/20 - 6/26

Hi Friend,

Bailey came to visit! On her flight over she sat next to a Serbian who spoke to her for about 2 of the 5 hours and she only heard every 4th word.

Zach came over, and then we headed over to Dawne's to make s'mores.

Bails: I'm going to tell dad I need one of these.
Me: A fire pit?
Bails: No, a lake.

Me: When is your game coming out?
Zach: I said it would out by Christmas...I didn't say what year.

After a long day of going to Elliot Bay Book Company, the library, half price books, Molly Moon's, Blick and generally running around the city.
Me: What do you want to do next?
Bails: I just want to go home, cuddle with a dog, watch parks and rec and drink some club soda.
(Oh, yeah, we introduced Bails to Parks and Rec!)

One day got up, had waffles, and then we went on a little hike near Snoqualmie Falls. There was something else here because I remember dropping Zach off and then picking him back up later but anyway that night we went to Capitol Hill and saw the beginnings of Pride Week, including some assless chaps and a mini-pre-parade.  Bails said she had never been to a parade, so we got up early the next day to go to the real Pride Parade.  I might have pushed the limits of our weekend because we had to run from the Parade, to the lake for boating, bbq and lake fun.  And then we had to rush off to a Dog Film festival that was made with, by and for dogs.  Bails and I each took a yorkie so we could match while watching the "less serious" half the films.  As soon was that done we rushed back to XXX Root beer for floats and fries.

Pretty sure that I missed some events - like going to the grocery store because that's apparently fun thing to do with me because I shop like a 5 year old.  But you get the basic idea!

Much love,

Update 6/27 - 7/3

Hi Friend,

More fun with Bails this week!  Including flying to Victoria! It was really fun, especially because I've never been on a seaplane or been to Victoria.  We checked out a book store, and walked around town before heading to the empress hotel for high tea. Wait! I remember what we did in that last note, we shopped for big floppy hats to wear while we drank tea! Or Club Soda depending on who you are.

Bails: 66 flavors is too overwhelming - what am I going to do?
Me: Get Mint and Chocolate like you always do?

Bails: We accomplished so much today.
Me: Like what?
Bails: Victoria

We separated from the group a little and walked the city and then went to the miniatures museum and then to the bug museum was actually pretty cool.

Bails: Do you think my mom would get mad if I moved to Canada?

On Tuesday, went to the dog park, and then Norm's (the dog bar) for lunch, checked out the Fremont troll, strolled around town, and then I brought Bails to Archie McPhees.  I also took her to my office so she could take a picture with Chief, and we did another little boat ride.  I'm not sure if it was  because we essentially ate waffles, fries and ice cream exclusively on the trip but Bails definitely announced, "Bails: I like Washington." So I'm going to call it a very successful trip!  I was very sad to see her go on Wednesday.  She texted me from the plane with her empty row.

Bails: Tell Lucas that Me, Myself, and I are going to have a great flight!
Lucas: They're going to New York without me??? What jerks.

Becky's parents were in town and helping her do some work on her house (which in about 10 months was going to come in very handy for me!)  I met her and her parent's at the Malt n Vine and they taught me how to play Hand and Foot.  Or at least I learned for that evening and now I have no idea.  I can definitely see how Becky is related BTW!

In other news, Matty got a new puppy, Pete (I think I accidentally post pictures of Pete and Matty on Aug 28th with no explanation.  So you can look forward to that in a bit, but he's super cute!)

And then to wrap up the weekend, I just got really sick and stayed in bed.  Lucky for you, I didn't take pictures of that!

Much love,

MAY 2016

Update 5/2 - 5/8

Hi Friend!

Not so exciting week.  Finally moved some work boxes out of storage so I finally don't have to do an expense report every month! Yay! (I really am getting old aren't I?)

I also went to meet with my HOA, where they denied my requests, including using my contractor who cost a third of the 12,000 that their contractor cost.  But I did get to explain, step by step, about how they charged me for late fees for bills they never sent me, for things I never agreed to pay for, especially as they were double charging me for lawyer bills.  It was a delight, but the good news is that I managed to make it to my car before I burst into tears.  Yay!

Shana decided to crash her new bosses wedding, so of course I joined!  It was super fun, and there were rootbeer floats.

Kelly also had an opportunity to enter a contest to win Sasquatch Glamping tickets (Spoiler alert she won!) The pictures were amaze-balls.

I discovered the video of Chris Evan's saying, "I don't wike it" and now it is permanently in my vocabulary.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP7H2fMdfqk

My four leaf clover, that I keep in my phone case, broke.  When we were at the dog park, I told Kelly and asked her to keep a look out for a new one.

Kelly: Actually, I found three yesterday - take your pick!
Me: See! I told you it was her super power!
Lucas: Worst super power ever.

Tom's parents were in town from NZ, so Zach and I joined Tom, Kelly, their parents and some siblings for Polish Fest.  Only Polish Fest was crazy popular so we got some coffee at Elliot Bay Book Co before brunch at Oddfellows.  When I asked about my summer, I told everyone how super psyched I was about seeing Billy Joel and Salt-n-Pepa!!

Tom: Ven diagram of people who are equally excited about Billy Joel and Salt n Pepa has got to be pretty tiny.
Me: There is plenty of room around me and my sister!

Alright people, I was afraid of this, I have no idea what all of my notes mean so I'll just leave these random's in hope that someone can remind me when they read it.

Update 5/9 - 5/15

Hi Friend,

Erika had a fourth kid this week! That's exciting!  Pretty sure it was 5/12 and her name is Elouise Rae!

Speaking of kids, this is from my friend with the two sets of twins:
At Charlotte and John's 4 year check up with all four kids. It's going great then this:

Dr: Charlotte, John, can you tell me about your mom? (Trying to engage them to evaluate their speech)
Charlotte: mommy is nice but sometimes she forgets things.
Dr: well, sometimes mommy's forget things.
Sophie: (interrupting dr) she forgot my soccer practice.
Connor: (without even a pause) she even forgot about coming here today
(Totally not even their appointment)
John: and sometimes she even says shit.
Dr: well, I think their speech is pretty advanced...
Jen: 😨😨😨😨

The HOA made me more and more angry, but I'll spare you details if for no other reason than I'm over it!  I stopped by Pam's for some wine and a long overdue catch up on Friday night.

Saw this quote from, I want to say Obama, but that's probably fake news.  Also, fake news was still funny in May!  Remember? “I want to thank him for his friendship, for his counsel, for always giving it to me straight, for not shooting anybody in the face. Thank you, Joe.”

I bought a lawn mower, like one of those push, not at all motorized mowers for my tiny yard and it's kinda perfect - and I didn't even hurt myself when I put it together!  I also went to home depot and got a bunch of those ground cover plants and loosely planted them all around my yard.  And I cut two of my roses and marveled in how pretty they looked on my counter.

And finally, I celebrated an epic lady-date night at the Pink Door with Becky for her birthday! The show was hilarious, the food scrumptious and the company was as always a delight!

Much Love,

Update 5/16 - 5/22

Okay, the HOA made me spend 3X as much to use their contractor to move the wall.  The only bright light was that their contractor came over to evaluate and told me (and he has been to all the units) that mine is by far the best unit.  Yay!

In other news, my coworker Corrinne found a spider and then wiped it on me.  My other co-worker Joey told me about the wonders of Ballerina Tea, which is basically something his sister, a dancer, used to drink to make herself sick.  Wow, right?

And then at some point this week we made Root beer floats with Baileys, and I have no idea what the occasion was! But it sounds super yummy.

I asked Becky to go with me to see Billy Joel.  Now she didn't know every single line of every song, but she put her all into it and that counts for everything!  We had super awesome seats on the floor and he was everything I ever wanted.

Me: is that Gavin DeGraw?
Becky: I think so?
Me: He's doing great for being so drunk!

When we were leaving, there was this one car up in front of the exit that was blocking the rest of the lot from leaving.  This guy was feeling intimidated by the crowd of people and wouldn't move.  So Becky gets out of the car and literally creates a space in the crowd for him and he still doesn't move.  So, my and my fiat did basically a 3 point turn and squeezed between the space of that car and the car behind it, and out the side and just drove into the crowd - a crowd who obviously knew how to make a space.  It was glorious.

Not sure if Jen wanted me to share this, but I'm gonna!
Jen: Lily just threw a fit about something and was an insufferable twit while we were talking about it. After she stormed off June looked at me and said in her most exasperated tone: "Jeeeeeesus"
Shana: F*ck I love that kid.

We were at the park and I told Kelly that I needed a new four leaf clover because the one in my phone case had dried up and fallen apart.  That's when she reached into her back pack and pulled out three four leaf clovers she had found that morning.

And also, I think D&J&L were in Hawaii surfing, because I have an epic pic of him!

Much Love,

Update 5/23 - 5/ 29

Hi Friend,

Frita figure out how to take a picture and then send it to me via text! And it was of the oh so pretty and impressive rhododendrons on the side of the house that I'm pretty sure everyone of us had our spring pictures taken in front of.

Coworker: How are you doing?
Me: Well, Only cried once today.

And you know what?  I don't even think it had anything to do with also being my 5 year anniversary!

Ryan, my lunch buddy, had absolutely had it with the disaster of car that he had to travel in to lunch every day so he made me go with him to a place so that he could clean and vacuum it.   If that wasn't embarrassing enough, our old boss drove by while we were cleaning and was all, whatchyaupto?  It was really lovely when it was all done, I have to admit.

And other than a note about "Taming of sleeping beauty" which doesn't ring a bell... I'm all done!

Much Love,

T O'B
